Department of Veterinary Microbiology

The Department of Veterinary Microbiology was established in College of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (CoVAS), Kishanganj with the generous funding from Bihar Animal Sciences University (BASU), Patna in the year 2023-24. The full-fledged Department of Veterinary Microbiology has evolved with the mandate of achieving academic excellence in the field of education and research in Veterinary Microbiology. The Department now provides a true academic ambience and work culture to the students and research scholars, enabling them overall personality development, career guidance to do innovative research and building successful career. With these strategies aims and goals, the Department is engaged in teaching (Veterinary Microbiology of 2^nd professional year B.V.Sc and A.H students), research, and extension. Department offers Veterinary Microbiology courses comprising of Paper-I (Unit I, Unit II, and Unit III) and Paper-II (Unit IV, and Unit V) as per MSVE-2016. The course is 05 credit hours and 80 students are enrolled per batch. Department is in capacity to intake M.V.Sc and Ph.D students and offer courses with eligible faculties. Department is well equipped with research facilities and currently two institutional projects are running. The Department has an open policy for collaborative research, that attract eminent scholars and Scientists for providing a global scientific interface in wider domains of Veterinary Microbiology consisted of three sub-domains Veterinary Virology, Veterinary Bacteriology and Veterinary Immunology. Department is also supporting in the diagnostic of samples received in the Veterinary Clinical Complex. Besides, faculties from the department are actively involved in organization and participation in health camps and other extension activities.
