1st Inter-College Sports Competition

The first Inter College Sports Competition was organized at Bihar Animal Sciences University, Patna from 7th to 9th December, 2019, at BASU Sports Complex and SGIDT. The three days event was inaugurated by chief guest Mr. Aamir Shubhani, Additional Chief Secretary (Home), Govt. of Bihar, in presence of Dr. Rameshwar Singh, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, BASU, Patna and Dr. Karan Pal Singh, Professor, University of Texas, USA by hoisting the University flag, releasing balloons in the air and lighting the torch (Masal). Dr. R. K. Trivedi, DSW, BASU, Patna, other officers, faculties, students and staffs were also present on this occasion. Shri Subhani exhorted the students to carry any work assigned with dedication because there is no work could small or big. Dr. Rameshwar Singh, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, BASU, Patna said that sports helped in keeping our body machine fit. He also said that the importance of sports was not just physical work but more than that, it was your leadership ability, working together for the same goals, develops essential virtues such as courage and endurance.
During the three-day competition 97 (61 boys and 36 girls) students of all the three colleges of university participated. The events conducted were 1500m race, 800m race, 400m race, 200m race, 100m race, 4×100m relay race, javelin throw, shotput throw, discus throw, long jump, high jump, volleyball, table tennis, kabaddi and badminton.
The first sports competition of BASU was concluded at the sports complex of the university on 9th December, 2019. Shri Ratan Sanjay, Inspector General of Police, Govt. of Bihar was present as the chief guest at the closing/prize distribution ceremony. On this occasion, chief guest Mr. Ratan Sanjay and Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, BASU gave away the prizes and trophies to the winners. All together 77 no. of medals/trophies were forwarded. Mr. Prince Kumar and Ms. Deepshikha students of Bihar Veterinary College were awarded the title of overall champion in boys and girls respectively.
