Recent Achievements:
-
The preservability of large white Yorkshire boar semen has been found better at 18ºC in comparison at 5ºC storage temperature under environmental condition of Bihar.
-
Major Seminal characteristics as well as spermatozoa abnormalities showed non-significant difference between large White Yorkshire and T^&D boars semen except seminal volume and tail abnormalities of spermatozoa. Hence, successful utility of T. & boar semen could be practiced under environmental condition of Bihar.
-
Storage temperature had significant effect on semen characteristics and enzyme activity in seminal plasma .Significantly higher percentage of live sperm motility and HOST value were found at18C as compared to 5C at all preservation duration. There were significantly higher percentage of head and tail abnormality and also higher incidence of DAR, ALT, DLH and hyaluronidase in seminal plasma were also higher at 5C storage temperature.
-
The motility and sperm percentage were significant (P <0.01) higher in Kiev extender having caffeine as additive as compared to Kiev and other additives added extenders up to 96 hours of preservation.
-
Prostaglandin F alpha was found better semen additive than caffeine citrate in case of preservation of Jamunapari Goat semen.
-
Ciprofloxacin in combination with metronidazole was found best among the antimicrobial agents used for treatment of conception failure due to uterine infection in bovines.
-
Injection of Vit. A (3 injection on alternate day) and lugol’s cervical paint were found effective in treatment of anestrus cases in bovines.
-
Injection of GnRH (10 ml) ½ hours before 1st A.I. followed by double A.. I at 12 hrs. interval was found effective in treatment of repeat breeding cases due to uniovular/delayed ovulation condition.
