Chief Vigilance Officer

Dr. A.K. Thakur is a distinguished academician and extension professional with over 35 years of experience in teaching, research, and livestock extension. His sustained commitment to rural upliftment and livestock development, coupled with a strong understanding of grassroots realities, has established him as a leading authority in livestock extension services. He has headed the Department of Dairy Extension and Dairy Business Management, promoting innovation, experiential learning, and farmer–industry linkages. He served as Director of Extension Education at Bihar Animal Sciences University (BASU), Patna for eight years, during which he implemented several farmer-centric initiatives that significantly enhanced the University’s outreach across Bihar.Dr. Thakur has also held important administrative responsibilities. As Officiating Finance Comptroller, he streamlined financial management and ensured successful completion of CAG audits for 2017–18 to 2019–20 with due compliance. As Dean (Officiating), Sanjay Gandhi Institute of Dairy Technology, he strengthened academics and upgraded infrastructure for ICAR accreditation. His integrated approach combining academic excellence, administrative efficiency, and field engagement has transformed BASU’s extension system into a dynamic, impact-driven framework. He has further been entrusted with the additional responsibility of Chief Vigilance Officer (CVO), Bihar Animal Sciences University (BASU), Patna, with effect from; 10.02.2025, vide Office Order No. BASU/Reg./Admin./F.
