Department of Veterinary Medicine
About
The department is as old as the college itself and had been running undergraduate and postgraduate courses. Since 1960 till date more than 50 students were awarded M.V.Sc, 02 PhD degrees and 12 P.G Diploma. The department is actively engaged in teaching of veterinary medicine courses as per VCI curriculum in U.G. program, P.G. and PhD as per ICAR. In the research sphere the department had been carrying on work on skin diseases of livestock and pets, metabolic and deficiency diseases, haemoprotozoan diseases of both livestock and pets, Degnala disease, Renal and Cardiac disease of canine and Haemonchosis and Mastitis in Small Ruminants and Cattle, respectively. Department is also active in different services of veterinary clinical complex.More than 1100 cases per months are being seen in the OPD of Veterinary Medicine. The faculty members of the department are actively engaged in care and management of health of animals of Livestock Farm Complex of the college.As extension activity department is playing an important role in outreach activities like vaccination camps, animal health camps, farmer’s awareness camps etc. in rural areas. Department of Veterinary Medicine is also playing active role in various training programs organized by University/ Bihar Veterinary College for Veterinary officers, farmers and wildlife veterinarians etc.
