Three days Workshop on Imaging Techniques Completed at BASU
Bihar Animal Sciences University organized three days workshop on “Hands on Training on Imaging Techniques for Diagnosis in Pet and Large Animals”from 28th to 30th May, 2018.
The workshop was inaugurated by lightning the lamp by Chief Guest Justice Dr. Ravi Ranjan, Hon’ble Judge, High Court Patna, Vice-Chancellor of Bihar Animal Sciences University, Dr. Rameshwar Singh, DRI-cum-Dean PGS, Dr. Hari Mohan Saxena, invited resource person Dr. JitenderMohindroo and Dr. A. A. Khan collectively.
The participants of the workshop were, Field Veterinarians, Assistant Professors working in the clinical subjects of Bihar Veterinary College, Patna, Veterinarians working in the Patna Zoo and Post Graduate Students of Clinical subjects of BVC, Patna. The participants learned theoretical aspect of Basics of Ultrasonography, Eco-Cardiography, ultrasound Guided biopsy, early pregnancy detection and reproductive disorder in bovine and Canine, Basics of Radiography Interpretation, Radiographic diagnosis of canine, bovine lungs, heart, kidney, liver, whole abdomen, spleen, thoracic cavity. Participants also learnedpractical use of Ultrasound and X-ray for diagnosis of diseases of deep seated organs by using the Ultrasound and X-ray machines of Clinical Complex, BVC. The workshop was organized in collaboration withVirbac Animal Health India Pvt. Ltd.
In the valedictory function held at Conference Hall of BVC on 30th May, 2018. All the guests were welcomed with Bouquet. Course Director, Dr. K. G. Mandal presented the workshop report and informed that a total of 63 participants completed the hands on training. Among the participants 33 were Veterinary Officers of state, 17 faculty members of BVC, 12 PG students of BVC and one Veterinary Doctor from Patna Zoo. He reported that the workshop was conducted very nicely and was successful. It was very good experience of teaching and learning. During the workshop participants were trained to diagnose various deep seated organs like Liver, Kidney, Lungs, Spleen, Intestine etc with the help of Ultrasound and X-Ray. The experts were very cooperative and helpful and each topic was covered in detailed manner. He thanked Course Coordinators Dr. ArchanaKumari and Dr. Ramesh Tiwary, members Dr. Gyandeo Singh and Mithilesh Kumar and Progrmme Coordinator Dr. Pankaj Kumar and Dr. Saroj K. Rajak for their sincere efforts for successful completion of workshop.
The feedback of participants were taken, where participants admired resource person Dr. J. Mohendroo and said such kind of training should be given to all vets of state. There is need of diagnostic equipments in all hospitals of state and they will be in constant touch with their resource person Dr. J. Mohindroo for further consultation and opinion regarding interpretation of complicated cases. Regional Manager of VirbacAnimal Health India Pvt. Ltd Shri Vijay Anand Singh, thanked Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor, BASU for full hearted support to organize the workshop. Programme Director and Dean Dr. Samantaray emphasized for more frequency of workshop with smaller group for better experience of handling the cases and use of diagnostic equipments.
Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor, Dr. Rameshwar Singh in his presidential speech told the need of continuing education for field veterinarians. He thanked the state government for sanctioning budget for Fishery College at Kishanganj. The knowledge and skill of field veterinarians in imaging techniques is enhanced and now they are trained to operate imaging equipments and they can do diagnosis of diseases by use of equipments if they are given opportunity. He informed that there is need to maintain data base of different cases in the way it is maintained in some foreign countries, some data base is also available in their websites. He said that confidence of vets has been increased after attending the workshop. Bihar Animal Sciences University is going to organize several training programmes for field veterinarians for Disaster Management and other topics as demanded from time to time. He thanked Dr. Mohindroo and Dr. B. P. Bhatt at the end of his deliberations.
The Chief Guest of the valedictory function Dr. B. P Bhatt, Director, ICAR-RCER in his deliberation appreciated the enthusiasm of participants and stated that due to decrease in land man ratio Animal Husbandry has to play major role for doubling the farmer’s income. There is need of adoption of Integrated Farming System within the farmers to increase their income. He told this kind of workshop should be conducted on regular basis.
