Brief Introduction

Dr Sumit Singhal born and brought up in Uttar Pradesh started his professional education by qualifying All-India Pre-entrance Veterinary Examination and acquiring B.V.Sc & A.H from NDUAT, Ayodhya where he was honored with University Merit Scholarship throughout 05 years (2000-05) as one of the best scholar. Cracking the All-India Post Graduate Examination he grabbed the Fellowship (JRF) from ICAR (2005-07) to pursue Master’s in Veterinary Gynaecology and Obstetrics, also completed his PhD (2007-10) holding the Fellowship (SRF) from project under ICAR. During his post-graduate research his thesis acclaimed the First OPU-IVF pregnancy in buffalo (2006) and proudly Dr Singhal was one the main researcher and Team member that produced First OPU-IVF live buffalo calf (2008) named Saubhagya by the then Union Minister of Agriculture.

To start his service career he joined as Veterinary Officer selected through UPPSC and served for about 2 years in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh. Being passionate for research and teaching he then resigned VO and joined as Assistant Professor in the Department of Veterinary Gynaecology & Obstetrics, at the premiere institute GADVASU, Ludhiana. He served GADVASU for about eight years upto 2021 and contributed significantly in clinics particularly large animal unit, produced ET calves of Sahiwal in University and at farmers’ doorstep for which the team was bestowed with National Level Appreciation Award by DADH, GoI. He was further engaged as an active team member in establishing OPU-IVF lab at GADVASU. Being faithful and sincere to duties he was shouldered with the responsibility of Incharge Semen Laboratory wherein he worked with full dedication resulting in tremendous increase of about 2.5 times in semen production and sale generating revolving fund tuned to about Rs 25 lakh annually consecutively for two years (2019, 2020). In year 2021, he was selected as Associated Professor in esteemed CAU, Pusa where he successfully faced the challenge and established the ET-IVF centre under RGM at Piprakothi, East Champaran, Bihar, also produced ET sahiwal calves at CAU, Pusa, Samastipur. Looking forward he then applied for Associated Professor in SAU, BASU, Patna got selected and joined in 2023. Thereafter, in 2024 he was appointed as Professor in the Department of VGO at BASU, Patna and is serving there till date.
