Mega event Young Authors Workshop held from 12.05.18 to 14.05.2018
Bihar Animal Sciences University organized three days Young Authors’ Workshop from 12th -14th May, 2018, at Conference Hall of Bihar Veterinary College, Patna.
The workshop was inaugurated by Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor Dr. Rameshwar Singh, DRI-cum-Dean PGS Dr. Hari Mohan Saxena, Registrar Dr. Pradeep Kumar Kapoor, and Guests from New Delhi by enlightening the lamp.
The expert guests invited for the conducting the workshop were Shri Hasan Javed Khan, Chief Scientist CSIR and Editor of dignified Science Reporter magazine, Shri Pradeep Sharma former editor of popular magazine Vigyan Pragati and Dr. Jagdeep Saxena, editor of Kheti Magazine.
In the inauguration function Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor shared his experiences with the participants and motivated the students for scientific writing. Students should have knowledge of proper writing along with editing so that in future when students will write research paper and popular articles for farmers then there will be fewer chances of errors. Technical writing skill is very important for publishing papers in National and International Journals and Magazines, he added.
Dr. Hari Mohan Saxena, the Chief organizer and Chairman of this event in his opening remarks told that 42 students from Bihar Veterinary College and Sanjay Gandhi Institute of Dairy Technology, Patna participated in the workshop. The motive of this workshop is to improve the writing skills of students for technical writing along with their study so that when the will be serving state or country they will have proper knowledge of writing for the benefit of scientific community and livestock farmers. Students should be motivated from their undergraduate level.
Shri Hasan Javed Khan told that nowadays peoples are spreading rumors in the social media without knowing the fact; it is not good for the society. People should take care of their content while posting in social media, he added.
Shri Pradeep Sharma and Dr. Jagdeep Saxena also highlighted importance of writing skills among the youths.
In the three days workshop students learned skills of scientific and technical writing. Students were divided into different groups and given task of writing on various issues which they completed with full dedication and devotion. They completed the task given by experts and wrote many formative articles. During their workshop students interviewed Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor as a part of their exercise and learned role of Bihar Animal Sciences University in the development of animal husbandry sector in the state and welfare of farming community of Bihar.
The workshop was organized by Dr. A. K. Jha, Dr. Saroj K. Rajak, Dr. Sanjay Bharti, Dr. Soniya, Dr. R. K. Sharma, Dr. Pankaj Kumar and Dr. Sudha Kumari.
In the valedictory function held on 14.05.2018, Dr. Hasan Javed Khan appreciated the enthusiasm of students during workshop and the way students shown keen interest and interaction during workshop and informed that there are online resources available for updating knowledge about scientific writing and students should go through it.
Dr. Jagdeep Saxena said it was a good learning environment during workshop and students participated and helped them for smooth going of workshop. He liked the academic environment of BASU and wished to come again in Bihar.
Feedbacks of participating students were given by Ravi Kumar Gupta, Rupam Kumari and Shivani Kumari. They said it was a very good experience they learned a lot about scientific and technical writing and they will inculcate in their day to day writing. They learned how to write articles with accuracy, brevity and clarity.
Certificate of participation was distributed to all participating students and then all expert guests were facilitated by Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor. Chairman of workshop Dr. Hari Mohan Saxena appreciated the efforts and arrangements made by Workshop Coordinator Dr. Awadhesh Kumar Jha, Asstt. Prof. DBM, SGIDT for full hearted support and efforts which made the workshop grand success. He congratulated the students for successful completion of three days workshop and asked them to go through literatures and magazines regularly available in college library for regular updates in the field of journalism.
Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor in his concluding remarks said he was delighted to see the day to day progress of workshop and zeal of the students towards learning. They availed this golden opportunity with both hands and he was satisfied with the first workshop of its kind in the BASU. He thanked to resource persons and said they are reputed personalities from India. Students should now contribute in the writing of Brochure, Bulletin, Newsletter, Popular articles etc. He explained the power of journalism and communication by illustrating reference of Sri Sanjay Gupta.

Mandal and Faculty, Students and Staff of Bihar Veterinary College and Sanjay Gandhi Institute of Dairy Technology were present.
The Programme ended with vote of thanks by Dr. Pankaj Kumar and National Anthem.
