Dr.Sonia Kumari

Brief Introduction:

         Dr.Mrs Sonia is working as Professor in the department of Dairy Microbiology at SGIDT, BASU, Patna, Bihar. She has done her graduation from TCA Dholi (R.A.U,Pusa,Bihar) MSc &Ph.D (Microbiology) from CCSHAU, Hisar, Haryana. She joined as Assistant Professor cum jr. Scientist in the Department of Microbiology (FBS&H) in the Rajendra Agricultural University in the year 2006 and serve there for four years then after the establishment of Bihar agricultural University serve there for another three years. At Present she is working in the Dairy Microbiology, Sanjay Gandhi Institute of Dairy Technology since last eleven years. In total she have a total working experience of eighteen years and now expertise in the field of Dairy microbiology too. She served the department as a Head for more than four years. She has carried many Research project viz Litchi Wine as PI (Funded by University).“Soil biodiversity and Biofertilizer”(AINP) as CO-PI, Establishment of crop specific Biofertilizer unit for improvement of production in agroclimatic Zone III (RKVY) as PI and Microbial Evaluation of Neera (Govt of Bihar) as a Associated scientist. She have more than 50 publication in the reputed journal Like Indian Journal of Microbiology, Agroecology and Sustainable Food System and Indian journal of Animal Science, authored five book Chapter and many article in popular magazine. She also authored a Book on Microbiology and are the content creator for Fundamentals of Microbiology on ICAR e -learning portal (NAHEP Comp-2) with a rating of five. She has been awarded as best teacher award in college and University level and have other prestigious (Best teacher, Young Scientist, Best researcher etc) award by many professional societies. She is reviewer/member of editorial board of ARCC and other professional journal. At present she is handling one project on “Optimization of process for the development of Sweet potato enriched Yoghurt” and filed patent for another value-added Yoghurt.
