Department of Veterinary Microbiology

About the Department
This department had been established with inception of the college in 1930. The postgraduate programme was started in the year 1962. The department offers courses in veterinary bacteriology, veterinary virology, veterinary immunology and veterinary mycology for the award of B. V. Sc. & A.H., M. V. Sc. and Ph. D. degrees.
Apart from teaching and curricular research, the department completed extramural research projects.
The Department offers diagnostic services to the field veterinarians, zoo veterinarians and the farmers. The mission of this department is to promote development through quality education, research, consultancy and extension services.
Outreach activities range from diagnostic services, professional consultancy on the control of animal diseases of microbial origin. The department has also extended diagnostic services to Sanjay Gandhi Biological Park and conducts collaborative research on infectious diseases of captive wild animals.
