Celebration of Ambedkar Jayanti and Debate Competition
CoVAS, Kishanganj
On the occasion of Ambedkar Jayanti, celebrated on 14 April 2025, the NSS Cell of the College of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (CoVAS), Kishanganj organized a Debate Competition to commemorate the life, thoughts, and principles of Dr. B. R. Ambedkar, the principal architect of the Constitution of India and a champion of social justice, equality, and democratic values. The programme aimed to sensitize students to the enduring relevance of Dr. Ambedkar’s vision for an inclusive and progressive society. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from students of the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd year of the undergraduate programme. The debate centered around themes such as social equality, constitutional values, empowerment through education, and the role of youth in strengthening democratic institutions. Participants presented well-articulated arguments reflecting their understanding of Dr. Ambedkar’s philosophy of liberty, equality, and fraternity, as well as its contemporary significance in nation-building.
Faculty members of the college actively participated in the programme, enriching the discussion by sharing their reflections on Dr. Ambedkar’s intellectual legacy and its relevance in the fields of education, governance, and social reform. Their insights encouraged students to appreciate the transformative power of knowledge, rational thinking, and ethical leadership.
The programme concluded with the address of the Respected Dean, CoVAS Kishanganj, who delivered his valuable remarks emphasizing the importance of Dr. Ambedkar’s ideals in shaping responsible citizens and professionals. He encouraged students to imbibe the values of equality, integrity, and social responsibility in their personal and professional lives. The Dean also appreciated the initiative of the NSS Cell for organizing such intellectually stimulating activities that foster awareness about national icons and strengthen the spirit of constitutional values among youth. Overall, the celebration served as a fitting tribute to the ideals of Dr. B. R. Ambedkar and reinforced the commitment of the institution toward promoting social awareness, democratic values, and intellectual discourse among students.
