Public Awareness Rally was organised at nearby villages on No Tobacco Day

On the occasion of World No Tobacco Day, an awareness rally was organised by College of Fisheries, Kishanganj. Students, teachers, and staff members actively participated in the program. Participants demonstrated their commitment to promoting a healthy lifestyle. During the rally, people were informed that those who do not consume tobacco reduce the risk to their lives.

The program was inaugurated by the Dean of the college, Dr. V. P. Saini, who also addressed the participants and highlighted the harmful effects of tobacco and the importance of spreading awareness in society. The program was successfully coordinated by Dr. Naresh Raj Keer, in-charge of the NSS unit, along with other teachers. Through the program, tobacco addiction was presented as a serious personal and social issue. At the end of the program, everyone took a pledge to keep themselves tobacco-free and to spread awareness in society. On this occasion, participants were encouraged to take a pledge not to consume tobacco, alcohol, or other intoxicating substances, and to spread awareness about their harmful effects in society.

CoVAS, Kishanganj

On the occasion of World No Tobacco Day, observed globally on 31 May 2025, the NSS Cell of the College of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (CoVAS), Kishanganj organized a “No Tobacco Rally” to create awareness about the harmful effects of tobacco consumption and to encourage people to adopt a healthy and tobacco-free lifestyle. The programme was organized in line with the global theme for 2025, “Unmasking the Appeal: Exposing Industry Tactics on Tobacco and Nicotine Products.” This theme emphasizes the need to reveal the marketing strategies used by tobacco industries to attract youth and vulnerable populations. The rally witnessed enthusiastic participation from students of the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd year of the undergraduate programme, who actively joined the campaign to spread awareness within the campus and surrounding community. Students carried informative placards and banners displaying strong anti-tobacco messages such as “Say No to Tobacco,” “Choose Health Over Addiction,” and “Tobacco Kills – Quit Today.” Through impactful slogans and awareness messages, the volunteers attempted to sensitize the public about the health hazards associated with tobacco and nicotine products.

Faculty members of the college actively participated in the programme, encouraging the students and supporting the awareness campaign. Their involvement strengthened the educational and social value of the initiative and motivated students to actively contribute to public health awareness activities. The programme concluded with an address by the Dean, CoVAS Kishanganj, who delivered valuable remarks emphasizing the importance of awareness and prevention in combating tobacco addiction. He appreciated the efforts of the NSS Cell and the enthusiastic participation of the students in organizing the rally. The Dean encouraged students to act as responsible ambassadors of health awareness in society and to continue engaging in community outreach activities that promote public welfare.

The “No Tobacco Rally” proved to be a meaningful and impactful initiative that effectively spread awareness about the dangers of tobacco use. It reinforced the commitment of the National Service Scheme toward promoting social awareness, community engagement, and responsible citizenship among students while contributing to the larger goal of building a healthier and tobacco-free society.
