Bihar Animal Sciences University, Patna celebrated 72nd Independence Day celebrations on 15th August, 2018 at BASU campus.  Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor, Dr. Rameshwar Singh hoisted the National Flag at the premises of BASU Administrative building.  At the onset Dr. Rameshwar Singh congratulated all the Senior Officers, Faculty, Staff and Students of BASU to be part of India’s 72nd Independence Day Celebrations. He recalled the achievements of India as largest republic of the world and success in the area of science, technology, animal husbandry and agriculture. The newly constituted university has several challenges including encroachment and trespassing in the premises of University to which university overcome with the sincere efforts of all the senior officers, Dean, faculty members and students. The University has organized three Academic Council Meeting since its inception in which new curricula, academic regulations were implemented and newly constituted Fisheries College was accorded academic curriculum.  The University organized six month self funded Artificial Insemination course in which 23 students completed successfully.

University has achieved several achievements during last one year in which ICAR sponsored NAHEP Project, Breed improvement project from Govt. of India has been sanctioned to the University. University has done renovation work of the Livestock farm and earlier known Exotic Cattle Breeding Farm. University has been allocated 6 RKVY projects. University has prepared proposal for recruitment of new faculty to strengthen the man power in the university. Various facilities for students has been offered including Practical class, training, NCC Battalion, Student ready and Earn while you learn etc. Training Cell, Placement Cell, Grievance Cell and Alumni cell will be strengthen for overall development of the university.  University has step forwarded in the achieving e-governance, Internet connectivity up to 50 MBPS, LAN facility, Academic Automation and E-Office. The proposals for construction of New Administrative Building, Academic Complex, Hostels, Auditorium, Conference Hall, Stadium and Community Center have been submitted to building construction department, he added.

The University is going to organize various activities for speeding the teaching, research and extension activities.  Organization of University Foundation Day, National conference of librarians and users community, Animal nutrition association, Microbiology & Immunology society and Veterinary Medicine Society workshop will be organized in near future. At last he assured all faculty and staff for providing all the genuine grievances and thanked all the faculty and staff for their support.

The flag hoisting was followed by tree plantation in the BASU campus and sports complex. In the Independence Day celebrations all the senior officers of the university, deans and directors, faculty, staff and students of constituent colleges were present.

Prior to flag hoisting at BASU headquarter constituent colleges of Bihar Animal Sciences University, Bihar Veterinary College, Patna and Sanjay Gandhi Institute of Dairy Technology, Patna hoisted the National Flag. At Bihar Veterinary College, Patna, Dean Dr. S. Samantaray hoisted the flag and at Sanjay Gandhi Institute of Dairy Technology, Dean Dr. M. N. Singh hoisted the flag.
