DEPARTMENT OF VETERINARY PHYSIOLOGY
Bihar Veterinary College, Bihar Animal Sciences University, Patna
About the Department
The Department of Veterinary Physiology is one of the oldest departments of Bihar Veterinary College, Patna and has been in existence since the inception of the College.
About 20 M.V.Sc. and one Ph.D. degree have been awarded by the department and more than 250 research papers have been published in standard national and international journals.
Veterinary Physiology deals with basic and strategic activities and provides the foundation for understanding various higher professional-year subjects such as Animal Nutrition, Veterinary Pharmacology & Toxicology, Animal Reproduction, Gynecology and Obstetrics, Veterinary Public Health and Veterinary Medicine.
Veterinary Physiology is a prerequisite for teaching, research and extension activities in many areas of Veterinary and Animal Sciences. The department provides teaching to undergraduate and postgraduate students with the help of teaching aids, practical facilities and research infrastructure.
The department also participates in extension activities including on-campus training, demonstrations and programmes for farmers, paravets and field veterinarians for adoption of innovations aimed at improving livestock production and the socio-economic condition of livestock farmers.
