About


The Department of Veterinary Public Health and Epidemiology came into existence in the year 2022 at College of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, Kishanganj. The department aims to focus on imparting quality education to UG students and to carry out research and extension work in the field of zoonoses, public health, epidemiology, food safety and antimicrobial resistance. The faculties of department are engaged in development of laboratory infrastructure, capacity building for the college and extension activities such as organization of awareness camps, seminar and trainings.

Mandate


Mandate:

  • To commence Under-graduate teaching in Veterinary Public Health & Epidemiology.
  • To conduct research in core area like Food safety, Zoonoses, Antimicrobial resistance, One health, Epidemiology Environmental hygiene.
  • To strengthen public health framework with emphasis on prevalent zoonotic diseases, antimicrobial resistance, one health, transboundary diseases, rapid diagnostics, and, extension activities etc.,
  • To create awareness among people about prevalent zoonotic diseases, food safety, personal hygiene, prevention and control strategies, disaster management and environmental issues.

Facilities


There are total three laboratories like milk hygiene, meat hygiene and zoonoses cum epidemiology lab for the UG teaching purpose.

U.G. Courses (As per MSVE-2016) will be offered to incoming students in near future in the 3rd Professional Year
