World Environment Day – 2025

World Environment Day was celebrated under the National Service Scheme (NSS) at Sanjay Gandhi Institute of Dairy Technology (SGIDT), Patna on 5th June 2025. The programme aimed to raise awareness among staff members and students about the importance of environmental protection. On this occasion, Dr. Umesh Singh, Dean, SGIDT, Patna, along with staff members and students of the institute, actively participated in a tree plantation within the SGIDT campus. The programme was successfully conducted with enthusiastic participation, encouraging everyone to contribute towards environmental conservation.
CoVAS, Kishanganj
On the occasion of World Environment Day, observed globally on 5 June 2025, the NSS Cell of the College of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (CoVAS), Kishanganj organized a Plantation Drive and Environmental Awareness Programme within the college campus. The programme was conducted in alignment with the global theme for 2025, “#BeatPlasticPollution,” which calls for collective action to reduce plastic waste and promote sustainable environmental practices.
The event aimed to sensitize students and the local community about the urgent need to protect the environment, promote sustainable lifestyles, and reduce the harmful impact of plastic pollution on ecosystems. The programme witnessed enthusiastic participation from students of the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd year, who actively took part in both the plantation drive and the awareness rally organized as part of the initiative.
The programme commenced with a brief introductory session highlighting the significance of environmental conservation, the growing problem of plastic pollution, and the responsibility of youth in promoting eco-friendly practices. As part of the programme, saplings of various environmentally beneficial plant species were planted across the college campus and nearby areas. The plantation activity was undertaken with the objective of enhancing the green cover of the campus and fostering a sense of environmental stewardship among the students. The NSS volunteers pledged to nurture and protect the planted saplings to ensure their healthy growth. Following the plantation activity, an awareness rally was organized within and around the campus. Students carried placards and banners displaying strong environmental messages, including “Say No to Single-Use Plastic,” “Protect Nature for Future Generations,” and “Beat Plastic Pollution for a Greener Planet.” The rally echoed with energetic slogans advocating environmental protection and responsible waste management, effectively drawing attention to the importance of collective efforts in combating plastic pollution.
Faculty members of the college actively participated in the programme, lending their support and encouragement to the students. Their participation added academic and motivational value to the initiative and reinforced the importance of environmental responsibility among future professionals. The programme concluded with an address by the Dean, CoVAS Kishanganj, who delivered his valuable remarks emphasizing the importance of environmental sustainability and responsible resource management. He appreciated the proactive efforts of the National Service Scheme volunteers and faculty members in organizing such a meaningful activity. The Dean also encouraged students to act as environmental ambassadors, promoting eco-friendly practices within their communities and contributing towards the protection of natural resources.
