About the Department
Since its inception, the Department of Veterinary Pathology has been actively engaged in teaching Veterinary Pathology courses as prescribed by the VCI curriculum in U.G., P.G. and Ph.D. degree programmes.
It is one of the oldest departments of the college and imparts knowledge to students about the pathology of diseases affecting animals, birds, wildlife and laboratory animals.
Dr. P. B. Kuppuswamy, Dr. C. D. N. Singh, Dr. L. N. Prasad and Dr. B. K. Sinha were among the eminent scientists who served the Department.
More than 50 students have been awarded the M.V.Sc. degree in Veterinary Pathology. Besides teaching, the Department undertakes diagnostic services for the Veterinary Clinical Complex (VCC) and performs necropsy examinations of farm animals, companion animals and wildlife.
The Department has completed several research projects and postgraduate research activities. Its research work has contributed to publications in national and international journals.
Institutional and externally funded research projects support its current activities. The Department also participates in on-campus training programmes, workshops, webinars, Kisan Mela, Kisan Gosthi, radio programmes and television talks for the welfare of livestock and poultry farmers.
