Brief Introduction:-

Dr. Lalit Mohan Bal joined as Associate Professor in Dairy and Food Engineering at SGIDT, BASU, Patna in June 2024 and became Head of the Dept. in January 2025. He holds a B.Tech. from OUAT, M.Tech. from IIT Kharagpur and Ph.D. from IIT Delhi. Prior to his present role, he served as Assistant Professor at JNKVV, College of Agriculture, Tikamgarh (M.P.) accumulating over two decades of experience in food engineering with a focus on drying, packaging and underutilized food processing.

Dr. Bal has been recipient of several prestigious fellowships, including GATE, CSIR-Senior Research Fellowship, Canadian Commonwealth Scholarship and Erasmus Mundus Fellowship and has undertaken research visits to Canada, Italy and Vietnam. Recognized for his teaching excellence, he has been honored with the Outstanding Faculty Award (2017) and Best Young Faculty Award (2021).

His research portfolio include 57+ high-impact journal publication, three books, 08 book chapters and 40 conference proceedings, accumulating a NAAS Rating of 379.78, IF of 144.96, 3401 citations, an h-index of 24, and an i-10 index of 36. He has successfully led four R&D projects funded by the Ministry of Education, ICAR and MP State Biodiversity Board and has organized 11 training programs sponsored by ICAR and Govt. of Bihar in the area of food and dairy processing.

Food Process and Engineering with emphasis on Value Addition of Underutilised Fruits, and Vegetables; and Engineering intervention in dairy product through innovative technologies.
