Knowledge on Wheels – Bringing Science to Farmers' Doorstep

       Krishi Gyan Vahan is an ICT-enabled Mobile Extension Unit of Bihar Animal Sciences University (BASU), Patna, launched under the 4th Agriculture Road Map, Government of Bihar. The initiative aims to strengthen livestock and veterinary extension services by delivering scientific knowledge, animal healthcare, and modern technologies directly to farmers at their doorstep.

        Equipped with audio-visual facilities, and expert advisory support, Krishi Gyan Vahan serves as a Mobile Knowledge Centre for farmers. The programme promotes scientific livestock management, improves farmers' access to veterinary services, and creates awareness about modern animal husbandry practices across Bihar.

On 15 March 2024, the Hon'ble Chief Minister of Bihar, Shri Nitish Kumar, flagged off four Krishi Gyan Vahan vehicles under the 4th Agriculture Road Map. The initiative marked a significant step towards strengthening ICT-enabled agricultural and veterinary extension services across the State.

Field Activities and Outreach


The programme, organized by the Krishi Vigyan Kendra in Jamui, featured the innovative Krishi Gyan Vahan initiative. This initiative significantly assisted farmers by providing crucial awareness and knowledge. Through Krishi Gyan Vahan, farmers were able to get their animals thoroughly examined, leading to accurate diagnosis and effective solutions for various livestock-related issues.

This initiative provided comprehensive veterinary facilities to farmers, ensuring their livestock received timely and professional care. This support was crucial in maintaining the health and productivity of their animals.
This initiative Blood test of animals was done in Krishi Gyan Vahan, dung of animals was checked through microscope and ultrasound of animals was also done.
