About the Department

The Department of Veterinary Pharmacology & Toxicology was established in the year 1930 as Materia Medica. During the 1960s, the Department was renamed as Veterinary Pharmacology and Toxicology.

The department has a long-standing engagement in teaching, research and academic activities in the fields of veterinary pharmacology and toxicology. A series of curricular and non-curricular research projects have been undertaken and successfully completed with results of practical utility.

Several master's and doctoral scholars have successfully completed their teaching and research work in the department and have contributed more than 100 research papers in journals of national and international repute.

The department has undertaken research in areas including pharmacokinetics, drug residues, toxicology, ethnopharmacology, chromatography and antimicrobial resistance.

The department is one of the well-equipped departments of Bihar Veterinary College and provides modern research and laboratory facilities for undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral teaching and research.
